The drums and the harder playing kicks in for "Shakin' All Over," which is similarly bent out of its familiar shape and pushed - Frampton and Marriott's guitars and vocals are all over the map on the song, which is just about recognizable despite the absence of the familiar central guitar riff. The opening number is an all-acoustic reworking of Graham Gouldman's "For Your Love," a showcase for Peter Frampton's acoustic guitar and Steve Marriott's soul shouting, and about as different as one could imagine from the compact, punchy Yardbirds rendition. tour in 1969 constitutes a helpful addition to the band's early recording history, which had been limited to the pair of studio LPs cut for Immediate Records. This audio DVD of music from Humble Pie's U.S. One we skipped, that is worth a mention.although it did not come out until 2001, it is a live recording from 1969, from their first USA tour. The album certainly sounds like 1968 and I mean that in a good way. They would have earned more $ that way though not a guarantee. I find myself wishing they had played it at the Fillmore and take out a cover tune. Silver Tongue is a superb song with a great vocal by Marriott.

The blend of acoustic music with or without drums plus the all out rockers gives the album a great breadth. *i think I'll get caught up with this thread while I listen to early Pie.Įdit: I was only behind one page so I wasn't as behind as I thought. Neither of these are easily found on the used market, at least locally.īack to your regularly scheduled program. That's ok as I probably appreciate the acoustic numbers more now as I was in a Stone Cold Fever world back then. feeling lucky that I suddenly have the first two HP lps in good nick. I wasn't even sure what one of the albums looked like but I was sure it was better than "Lost And Found." Now I come slinking back,to this twofer, tail between my legs, etc.

I did buy the follow up to these two back then but I kind of stuck my nose up at this twofer, a goofy cover being the primary reason. Woohoo! When this reissue came out I passed on it, planning on getting originals. I'm not asking for any backward momentum (heavin' forbid!) but I wanted to say I found a copy of the twofer Lost And found on A&M today in great shape for $6.
